CELSA
Barna Steel is the matrix company of CELSA Group™, a multinational leader in long steel products. CELSA Group is Europe’s largest circular supply chain. It recycles ferrous scrap to produce steel in electric arc furnaces, using the most sustainable and energy-efficient technology. The group works to provide solutions to the planet’s main systemic risks: resource depletion and the fight against climate change. The company has therefore set two strategic objectives: to reduce its CO2 emissions by 50% and achieve 98% circularity by 2030 and to complete its circularity and become a Net Positive company with zero waste by 2050.
Within CaLby2030, CELSA is:
- EAF steelmaking system demonstrator
- Exploiter of the technical know-how
- Strategic end-user
The most relevant CCUS projects where CELSA is and has been involved in, are:
- SlagCO2
- MgCO2
Both of them are Spanish-funded projects
